WHO IS DANA?

I was born and raised in South Jersey and as a lifelong soccer player and athlete dating back to Jane Fonda workout videos in the ‘80s, I’ve been drawn to the sports world in my filmmaking. I’m currently directing THE LAST 90 MINUTES (DOC NYC Only In New York 2019, Filmmakers Legal Clinic), about a college women’s soccer team, and TANDEM (DOC NYC Only In New York 2020), about the forgotten sport of tandem surfing, while producing 7 BEATS PER MINUTE (Tribeca Creators Market 2021, Tribeca All Access 2020, CNEX 2020 Highest International Potential Award), about a professional female freediver.

Earlier works I’ve been a part of include the Sundance and Peabody Award-winning, TRAPPED, Sundance Award-winning E-TEAM, (DIS)HONESTY - THE TRUTH ABOUT LIES, WELL GROOMED, and BACKPACK FULL OF CASH (narrated by Matt Damon), amongst others. My work has been broadcast nationwide and internationally, and can be found streaming on Netflix, Amazon Prime, and HBO Max. I am a 2017 Impact Partners Producing Fellow, a 2019 newportFILM Documentary Cinematography Lab Fellow, and a recurring guest speaker at New York University focusing on the art of the documentary interview.

I’ve lent my services to clients large and small such as NFL Films, Outlier.org, Nike, Salty Features, Kauai Lifeguard Association, Honolulu Civil Beat, Stone Lantern Films, Vacant Light, AzBuki Production Center, Studio Ostrov, Big Mouth Productions, Pale Blue Dot Media, mindbodygreen, and The Project for the Advancement of Our Common Humanity (PACH) at New York University.

Teamwork, athleticism, culture, and humor drive me in film, life, and play as I strive to create and share truthful, inspiring, eye-opening stories with the world. Developing trust and connecting deeply with the people I film and work with is vitally important to me.

Before journeying into film, I worked in architecture and was an integral part of the team that completed Midtown Crossing at Turner Park, a million-square-foot, multi-use revitalization project in Omaha, Nebraska. At the same time, I was the Assistant Coach for the scholarship-granting Women’s Soccer Team at Philadelphia University. I am also a former volunteer teacher with The Green Gecko Project in Siem Reap, Cambodia, the Architecture in Education program in Philadelphia, PA, and America SCORES in New York, NY.

I hold a MFA in Social Documentary Film from the School of Visual Arts in New York City and a Bachelor of Architecture from Philadelphia University.

Thank you for reading! I look forward to working with you soon.

Aloha!
